RONALDO: I can still play for 10 more years
The arrangement, anticipated that would secure Ronaldo's status as the world's most generously compensated footballer, will keep the Portuguese attached to the European champions until he is 36.
"What I most need is to keep getting a charge out of the years I have left to play. Despite everything I have 10 years (ahead)," Ronaldo said in the wake of marking what he demanded will be his penultimate contract.
The three-time World Player of the Year has made the most of his best year at an aggregate level, scoring the triumphant punishment as Madrid won the Champions League for an eleventh time in May before captaining Portugal to their first real competition win at Euro 2016.
"After the season I've had, to win the Champions League, the Euros and afterward restore my agreement with Real Madrid it is something I never envisioned. It is a fantasy year."
